Nice list of books! I like the books which emphasis the gratitude and thankfulness aspect of Thanksgiving rather than the turkey, food, and more traditional and historically inaccurate perspectives. I really love Pilkey's Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris...I do prefer to focus on family and thankfulness during this time of year..I mentioned in last week's post that we have to be careful about not perpetuating sterotypes and inaccuracies.(http://earlyliteracycounts.blogspot.com/2010/11/book-of-day-feast-for-10-by-cathryn.html)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your list. We've been reading Pumpkin Soup lately. My son loves it. There's a recipe for pumpkin soup in the back. Haven't tried it yet, but plan to next week.
ReplyDeleteMarcia - Let me know how the pumpkin soup goes :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for these great suggestions, as well as for including one of my suggestions on your list :) I love discovering new books to share with children, and there are a few here that I will be checking out. I am so happy I found you (via twitter.) I have really been enjoying looking around here, and becoming familiar with all the great resources and ideas you offer for both teachers, and parents of young children. Thank you for creating such a wonderful site!I'm happy to spread the word!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa. I am THANKFUL for my Twitter friends and my Blog Readers. I'm glad that you enjoy my site. It's a true labor of love. I work in the child care field but most of my responsibilities are administrative, so this blog is my way of sharing my love of early childhood with the world (or at least with the folk that read my blog, lol). Come back and visit me often. I have a list of new books to share and I have a few giveaways coming up soon!!
