I love Harry the Dirty Dog, also - you can hear Betty White read this story at the interactive site from The Screen Actors Guild Foundation http://www.storylineonline.net/
ReplyDeletePersonally, I loved the series about Uncle Wiggly that my parents read aloud to me, which you probably never heard of.....because I am 65!
Thanks for your posts!

I adored Noel Streatfield's Ballet Shoes series and my daughter just read them and loved them too (very girly)!
ReplyDeleteApart from that I was addicted to Enid Blyton's Secret Seven Adventures. Terribly British and now very dated.
Harry is one of my favs as well. Also loved Corduroy and There are Rocks in My Socks said the Fox to the Ox.
ReplyDeleteGood list! I think there's quite a few of those I remember reading a lot as well. Definitely remember the Richard Scarry books as well. I read a lot of the Judy Blume books as I got older. I also read a ton of Encyclopedia Brown and Choose Your Own Adventure books.
ReplyDeletePoky Little Puppy, and The Five Little Peppers and How they Grew, were my two of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThe Little House on the Prairie series was heartwarming to me.
